Within the framework of the opening ceremony of the XXV International ICT Forum “TIBO-2018” a plenary session “Strategy for Digital Transformation” was held. The heads of government bodies, representatives of international organizations and large ICT companies attended and participated in the plenary session. The host of the event was Dmitry Titov, the press secretary of the Hi-Tech Park, the linkman of the Belarus-1 TV channel.
Sergey Popkov, Minister of Communications and Informatization, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Forum, delivered a welcoming speech: “We have been meeting in the city of Minsk at the TIBO exhibition for 25 years. It is important for us to show the achievements of our country, as well as novelty products that will be introduced in the future. The president outlined the course for further development – building an IT-country through innovative development, and the forum “TIBO-2018″ is meant to contribute to the formation of the IT-country concept.”
Pavel Tkach, the representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission, read out the welcoming speech of Tigran Sargsyan, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission. “The International Forum “TIBO” is an opportunity to form a common vision of specialists on high priority decisions and projects,” Tigran Sargsyan said in his welcoming speech.
Nermin al-Saadani – Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of the Arab Republic of Egypt, proceeded with her welcoming speech. “The relations between Belarus and Egypt are constantly strengthening, the countries cooperate in many fields, including technology,” Nemin al-Saadani noted.
Kirill Oparin, Head of the Regional Office of the International Telecommunication Union for the CIS, read out the welcoming speech of the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, Houlin Zhao: “I want to thank Sergey Popkov, the Minister of Communications and Informatization, for inviting me to participate in such a major event as TIBO. We live in the era of digital transformation, where a lot of attention is paid to technologies, and I’m happy to note that Belarus is constantly developing in this direction.”
Andrea Viktorin, Head of the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Belarus, congratulated the TIBO Forum on the 25th anniversary and stressed the importance of the partnership between Belarus and the European Union in the field of information technologies.
Nurudin Mukhitdinov, General Director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications, noted the importance of achieving the goals of sustainable development. “Each of our countries has programs for building a digital society, but the way they are implemented in Belarus really deserves respect,” he said.
James Chan, the President of the Central Asia and Caucasus region of Huawei, delivered the presentation “Together we will build Eurasia, where everything is connected and intellectualized”. “We are entering a “smart world” where everything is connected, interactive and intellectualized, and this can’t be ignored,” stressed James Chan.
Andrey Smelkov, Member of the Board, Vice-President of MTS JLLC, delivered the presentation “Mobile TeleSystems – the best innovation experience for the benefit of each client” and stressed, that “MTS is not only the communications, but also satellite TV, financial services and much more.” As an example of new digital services, Andrey Smelkov presented the “MTS-Cashier” project, a comprehensive solution implemented in Russia to serve small and medium-sized businesses. He also spoke about financial technologies in MTS and the plans of their development, as well as the development of Smart Education, which MTS is engaged in.
Nikolai Orlov, Regional Vice President of Eutelsat S.A. for Russia and CIS countries, spoke about the experience of cooperation between Belarus and Eutelsat and the specifics of the company’s work.
Cao Li, Managing Director of China Telecom Europe (the United Kingdom) spoke about the largest joint project in the field of digital transformation – “China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone”. “We believe that our experience will make the business more successful”, emphasized the speaker.
At the end of the event, Demetrio Russo, Vice President for the Eastern Europe Region of Nokia, made a presentation “Digital Transformation – Why It’s Important”. The speaker dwelled on the need for the development of digital technologies and spoke about the infrastructure required for the implementation of digital transformation.
After the plenary session the participants had the opportunity to communicate informally.
